A little info about me and what I'm about..... My name is Blanca Maria, I am a Latin R & B singer who was born and raised in Chicago. I write my own songs and like to mix R&B, Urban, Dance and Latin beats in my music. Even though I'm new to the recording industry, I am no stranger to performing. I have been performing since the age of 10, when I was selected to perform in the prestigious professional children’s choir ‘All God’s Children’ in Chicago, Illinois. During my 3 years with AGC I traveled the country singing in numerous concerts which was highlighted by performances at Orchestra Hall in downtown Chicago.
Being a Latina of Puerto Rican and Mexican roots gave me a great mix of people I could draw inspiration from. My early influences were Selena, Mariah Carey, Aliyah, Mary J. Blige, Celia Cruz and Brenda K. Starr. I would spend hours perfecting my repertoire which eventually caught the attention of my father who confidently put me on stage at local festivals in the summertime performing covers of the fine artists I grew up admiring. This eventually led to me earning the role of lead singer in my father’s Chicago area band Ritmo. With Ritmo I sang covers of other influential artists such as Alicia Keys, Teena- Marie, and Evelyn “Champagne” King as well as the other artists that inspired me early on. During my years with Ritmo I performed at many venues around the Chicagoland area including St. Bartholomew's Annual Carnival, Fiesta del Sol, The Chicago Puerto Rican Day Parade, Burbank Rose, Hedgehogs, St. Joseph’s Festival, Luv N Music, and many more.
A couple of years ago I felt I had reached my potential singing cover songs. It was then that I decided to write and compose my own original songs. I feel that my experience at a young age has enabled me to write diverse songs that I hope you enjoy. Recently I have opened for Stevie B, Soave and Toby Love. I have also participated at various community events including the Mexican Arts Festival in Pilsen and at the Puerto Rican Day Parade 2008 in Humboldt Park, Chicago.
